OE official
Designed for newcomers, this entry-level training provides the foundational knowledge and skills needed to begin officiating at Ontario Equestrian (OE) sanctioned competitions. You will gain a solid understanding of current Equestrian Canada (EC) rules and practical insight into roles such as judging and course design.
Led by experienced professionals, the program features a dynamic mix of classroom learning and hands-on experience, giving you the confidence to step into the ring as an official.

Join Ontario Equestrian’s Officials program.
- Adult OE Membership
- EC Bronze Sports License
- Annual OE Officials License of $50
- Acceptance of the OE Officials Code of Conduct
- Completion of Concussion and Safe Sport Training
- Criminal Record Check (every 3 years)
- Pass the Pre and Final Exam
- Shadowing Hours
- Annual Renewal of OE Membership
- Annual Renewal of EC Bronze Sports License
- Annual Renewal of OE Provincial Officials License
- Criminal Record Check to be renewed every 3 years
- Attend an OE Officials Clinic every 3 years

Completing the OE Officials Program allows you to be an official at any Ontario Equestrian sanctioned shows.
The Officials Program membership is annual, and requires an OE individual adult membership to purchase.
Officials that have completed all requirements of the program will be listed on the Website and Hub Directory. From this, show management will know who are qualified judges and course designers to hire for their show season. Keeping your Officials Program membership active and in good standing ensures that your listing is displayed in the Officials Directory.
The Learner Pathway is designed for individuals who are interested in the program but do not wish to become officials. It allows them to attend the officials clinics to gain knowledge without committing to the full certification.
